In India it is believed that marriage is not only between bride-groom but also a lifetime joining of bride and groom’s families/relatives. Families and close relatives from each side try to reach wedding place one or two days in advance. Families of both sides play an integral part in planning and execution of the wedding. In order to know each other better, there are some wedding rituals (Mehendi, Haldi, Tilak, etc) including dance and song performances.
So, songs and dance are an integral part of Hindu/Sikh wedding rituals. Bride and groom side families take part in dance. Songs are full of fun, teasing, love and praise for each other. This is also reflected in Bollywood/Indian movies. Here are some of the famous Bollywood wedding songs. People watch dance these steps in movies and try to imitate in their wedding dance performances.
